The most anticipated Excel file in European ESG Reporting has finally arrived

Minke

After months of waiting, one of the most closely watched documents in European ESG reporting is finally here: EFRAG’s draft list of datapoints for the revised ESRS.

A long road since the Omnibus

Since the Omnibus announcement in February 2025, the ESG reporting community has been navigating a steady stream of documents, consultations, and revisions related to the future of the CSRD and the ESRS. Opinions on these changes vary widely. Some see them as a much-needed simplification of ESG reporting, while others view them as a step toward deregulation.

Regardless of where you stand in that debate, one thing has been clear for both companies and ESG software providers: practical guidance on how the revised standards translate into concrete reporting requirements has been sorely needed.

Why a datapoint list matters

For platforms like Salacia Solutions, that guidance starts with something deceptively simple: a clear, structured list of the datapoints covered by the new standards. An Excel file may not sound like the most exciting deliverable in sustainability reporting, but it is the foundation that allows providers to interpret disclosure requirements consistently and to build reliable reporting workflows for their clients.

EFRAG understandably wanted to avoid multiple, potentially conflicting versions of such a list circulating while the revised ESRS was still under development. In the absence of an official datapoint list, however, companies and software providers across the market have had to rely on their own informed interpretations of the requirements. That made this release a genuinely significant moment: it offers a much-needed reference point and a stronger, shared basis for implementation across the industry.

What this means for Salacia

At Salacia, we are already working on integrating the new datapoint architecture into our platform, so that both current and future clients can benefit from this latest guidance as quickly as possible. It might be a bit of an ESG reporting nerd moment, but for us, this Excel file is a big deal.

Now it’s time to get to work.
