A partnership with a sustainable partner like Salacia Solutions was exactly what Murco was looking for. The 56-year-old green spokesperson and communications specialist’s track record is captivating: Murco served as a communications expert for the municipalities of Delft, Rotterdam, and Oegstgeest, at the Urban Development Department in Haarlem, was campaign leader for Henri Leferink in the Leiden Mayors’ Referendum, worked as a spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, and, until the end of October, worked for the Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets as a spokesperson and communications advisor for Competition and Healthcare. It had been simmering for some time: “I want to contribute to greater biodiversity, slow the climate crisis, and increase sustainability.” This desire was already present in his private life, we learn. “We’ve moved to the Groene Hart region. I’m enjoying it immensely. But I’m seeing firsthand the transition needed for agriculture and the redevelopment of nature around the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. I also want to make a substantial contribution to nature, the environment, and sustainability through my work,” says Murco.
Self-employed in sustainability
On November 1, 2023, Murco opened a new book. As a self-employed entrepreneur, he has since been using his expertise and skills for a better world. “I’ve become a spokesperson for sustainability,” he explains. “I now do that for Salacia Solutions. It’s a perfect fit, because we’re on the same page.” How did Murco and Salacia connect, we ask. He answers: “Through a former colleague who has good ties to Salacia Solutions. An initial meeting in Rotterdam was easily arranged, and we clicked. A great office with a super-enthusiastic team. I knew immediately: we can really get going here.”
A broad range of responsibilities
Murco acts as spokesperson for Salacia Solutions, in the broadest sense of the word. “My responsibilities include providing the organization with current, daily communications. I write news items, blogs, and social media content, and I keep a close eye on what’s happening in the world of sustainability. I’ve always kept my antennas wide open and seize opportunities to promote Salacia and raise awareness about sustainability in companies and the role Salacia can play in this.”
It’s high time
Murco also feels the urgency for companies to contribute to a sustainable world. “Many companies aren’t even working on it yet, or have started, but are stuck.
