Marketing manager – Anna van den Berg

Martijn Sanderse

“Because I always worked intensively and pleasantly for and with Salacia at the marketing agency where I worked, I decided to personally inform Lenny van Klink of my departure and thank him for the collaboration,” Anna begins the conversation. “That turned out differently than expected! He turned the tables and offered me a position as marketing manager at Salacia. A moment of joy for me, because I’d long wanted to contribute to a better world through my work.” Anna didn’t hesitate, and so she still works for Salacia Solutions, having only had to change positions. As of May 1, 2024, she can call herself Salacia’s marketing manager.

Marketing power from the heart of the organization

Anna, almost 24 years old at the time of our conversation, studied Commercial Economics at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, specializing in marketing management. Through her studies, she landed an internship at a large Rotterdam marketing agency. “There I did SEO, conversion optimization, new business development, and general marketing,” she explains. After my internship, I stuck around in a paid position, which is how I came into contact with Salacia, a client. It was a very interesting company for me to work for, as I’ve always been very interested in sustainability, especially in relation to my personal life. The desire to contribute to a better world through my work in the future was always paramount.

During her permanent position at the marketing agency, Anna pursued a Pre-Master’s degree in International Business Administration. “I was eager to complete it, but it took time. That was the reason I left my permanent, demanding job. When I told Lenny van Klink about my departure and the reason, he said, relaxed: ‘Shall we agree that you’ll come work here?’ Salacia offers me every opportunity to successfully complete my studies alongside my work. I work part-time and flexibly, an ideal solution. It’s wonderful to now be able to do Salacia’s marketing work from the heart of the organization. With a great and dedicated team of colleagues, the lines of communication are even shorter, and I can do everything I can to help Salacia move forward.

Where do you want to go?

When asked about your future plans, Anna replies: “I’d like to pursue a Master’s degree in Global Business & Sustainability. I can do that alongside my work at Salacia, and the great thing is that I can immediately put all the knowledge I’ve acquired into practice. Ultimately, we want to move to a full-time position here. By then, I also hope to be living in Rotterdam. Perhaps my business card will say: Anna van den Berg, Sustainability Expert & Marketing Manager.”

Anna concludes: “It’s great to be here. We already had a mutual love affair, and it’s wonderful that Salacia seizes opportunities and ‘creates its own raw material’ when it comes to personnel. Regarding my work, I have a strong ‘data-driven’ focus. Because that’s also at the core of Salacia, I feel completely at home here.”
