We at Salacia share the same vision of B Lab and thus decided over a year ago to start our certification journey to becoming an official member of the B Corp movement. We can now proudly announce that we are officially certified as a B Corporation!
About the B Corp movement
The ‘B’ in B Corporation (or B Corp) and B Lab stands for Benefit for all. The B Corp movement is a global collection of companies and organizations that work together to change our economic system to positively impact all stakeholders – workers, communities, customers and our planet. B Lab is the non-profit network behind the B Corp movement and in 2006 they started with the idea that we needed global change.
They have become known for certifying B Corporations, which are companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Salacia Solutions joins a movement that harnesses the power of business and positive impacts more than 150 industries in more than 80 countries. Together, we are shifting our economic system from profiting only the few to benefiting all, from concentrating wealth and power to ensuring equity, from extraction to regeneration, and from prioritizing individualism to embracing interdependence.
Our journey to becoming a B Corp
The founders of Salacia Solutions created the company with the idea of using business as a force of good. That’s why we have decided to become certified as a B Corporation as we want to be a part of a global community that is working towards a better future. We have always said that we are making a difference, but the B Corp certification verifies our impact according to the rigorous standards set by B Lab. To become a B Corp, we had to meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability.
B Corps achieve a minimum verified score on the B Impact Assessment – a rigorous assessment of five impact areas: governance, workers, customers, community, and environment. In order to become a certified B Corp, a company must score above 80 points on the B Impact Assessment. The median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment is currently 50.9, but Salacia Solutions is proud to announce that we have a score of 102. This is a huge achievement for Salacia Solutions!
Now that we are a certified B Corporation it does not mean that we get to relax, it means that the real work is about to start. We aim to become an active member in the B Corp movement and use our business as a force of good in all aspects of our company. Becoming a B Corporation is another step for us towards building a better future for people and planet.
