AI & Sustainability: Friend or Foe?
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way companies work with sustainability data. It can help organizations collect, process, analyze, and report ESG information more efficiently. But there is another side to the story: AI itself comes with a growing environmental footprint and raises questions about how much value it can really deliver.
During Climate Week Prague, our colleague Elisabeth Gabalova will explore both sides of the relationship between AI and sustainability.

Climate Week Prague 14–20 September 2026
From NYC and London to Prague: the region’s first international climate week.
At a time when climate action needs our strongest support, Climate Week Prague 2026 brings the conversation to life with a full week of discussions, talks, activities, and exhibitions across Prague and beyond.
The event brings together people from business, government, academia, NGOs, and the wider sustainability community to explore the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of climate action.
With topics ranging from climate and sustainability to innovation, business, and technology, Climate Week Prague creates a space for new ideas, meaningful conversations, and connections across the region.
Our team is proud to be part of this international programme, with Elisabeth Gabalova representing Salacia Solutions in a session exploring the increasingly important relationship between AI and sustainability.

Meet Elisabeth Gabalova
Elisabeth Gabalova brings together a background in cognitive and environmental science with several years of experience as a software developer.
She represents Salacia Solutions, a Dutch company developing software for ESG data management and sustainability reporting. After working with Salacia in the Netherlands for several years, she established the company’s Prague branch, strengthening Salacia’s presence in the Czech market and Central Europe.
Combining her experience in technology and sustainability, Elisabeth is particularly interested in the two-sided relationship between AI and sustainability: how AI can make sustainability work more effective, while also considering what the rapid expansion of AI means for the environment.
At Climate Week Prague, Elisabeth will bring these two perspectives together in her talk “AI & Sustainability: Friend or Foe?”, exploring both the opportunities and the limitations of AI in the sustainability field.
What can you expect?
In this interactive talk, Elisabeth will explore:
- What environmental impact does the rapid development of AI have?
- How can AI genuinely support ESG data collection, management, and reporting?
- Where can AI create real value for sustainability teams?
- Where are AI capabilities being overstated?
- How should organizations think critically about AI as part of their sustainability strategy?
The session will combine available research with practical industry experience and invite participants to discuss where AI is already making a difference – and where it may still be more promise than reality.
Join Elisabeth at Climate Week Prague and explore whether AI is truly a friend to sustainability – or whether the relationship is more complicated.
