Sr. Software Engineer – Wybe Minnebo

Minke
Wybe Minnebo

Wybe grew up in the region of The Hague and Zoetermeer, but today he’s happily settled in Gouda, a place he describes with a smile as his “huisje‑boompje‑beestje” life. In the balance between being a devoted father and a deeply curious engineer, he has found a rhythm that suits him perfectly. As he once phrased it, being a programmer and being a dad are identities he now tries to combine, and it’s clear he approaches both with the same calm attention and sense of responsibility.

His arrival at Salacia wasn’t a matter of coincidence, but it also wasn’t the result of a long-planned career move. Instead, it began with a small consultancy project more than a year before he officially joined. A friendly conversation in the hallway, colleagues who made the same leap, and a growing sense that Salacia might just be something special, these moments stacked up quietly.

There was also timing. Wybe was working at a small startup at the time and didn’t want to leave business unfinished. When he finally messaged to ask about opportunities, it took one interview to confirm what he’d already felt: this was the right next step. Or in his own words, delivered casually during the interview, “And the rest is history.”

A Mind That Appreciates the Complex

Wybe approaches challenging work with calm focus. He is comfortable in complex domains and patient when problems require careful untangling. His interest in difficult topics comes from wanting to understand them well, not from seeking complexity for its own sake.

Usefulness is what matters most to him. In his interview, he put it simply: “What I do… that makes at least some impact.” That sense of quiet, practical contribution guides how he builds and refines the tools people rely on.

Pragmatism is a consistent theme in his work. He aims for clarity and steady improvement, taking small steps that make a difference. When asked what advice he would give to organizations beginning their sustainability journey, he shared a principle he often uses:
“Progress over perfection.”

It reflects his overall approach: begin, learn, adjust, and keep moving forward.

Why Salacia Feels Like Home

Salacia’s mission resonates deeply with Wybe. The evolving landscape of sustainability reporting, the opportunity to design tools in a still‑emerging field, and the challenge of helping shape ways of working for an entire industry, these are exactly the kinds of puzzles his mind gravitates toward.

He’s energized by building solutions for problems that genuinely matter, and he appreciates that Salacia encourages curiosity, creativity, and technical exploration. It’s a space where his love of logic meets his sense of purpose. And for someone who “almost does this kind of work as a hobby,” that alignment makes all the difference.

Fun Fact – The Developer With an Artist’s Heart

Long before he wrote his first professional line of code, Wybe actually began his studies at an art academy. Though he didn’t complete the program, the artistic instinct never left. Today he still fills sketchbooks with cartoon‑style illustrations and keeps an impressive collection of blank notebooks simply because he finds them beautiful.

He’s inspired by chaotic, expressive artwork and dreams of a workspace that blends the coziness of a library with the creative clutter of an artist’s studio. It’s not hard to imagine: the analytical engineer with a playful, artistic lens on the world.
