Salacia offered her the opportunity to take her first steps in the world of sustainability. Since March 6, 2023, Eliana Dominguez, an Argentinian by birth and 38 years old, has joined the Salacia team. As a Front-End Developer, Eliana helps develop software that helps companies simplify their ESG tracking and reporting.
Now in the Netherlands for three years
“In Argentina, while studying Front-End Development, I worked in various jobs, including administrative work for a flooring company and my own company that organized children’s parties. At my own company, I was a people manager and handled the administration. My husband is also a developer; he was able to find a good job in the Netherlands. I arrived in the Netherlands with him two years ago. Since I didn’t have a job here yet, didn’t speak the language, and also needed to brush up on my English, I first started at HEMA,” Eliana explains. “HEMA is, of course, a truly Dutch company, so it’s also a good place to learn the language. I also quickly found enjoyable volunteer work in Rotterdam with the ‘Nuestra Casa’ foundation, which helps Spanish speakers integrate into the Netherlands. I helped this foundation with their website and social media.”
After working at HEMA for a year, Elian wanted to resume her studies in Front-End Development. A bootcamp in Amsterdam proved to be the perfect start. Eliana: “That bootcamp was what I needed to actually start looking for work in Front-End Development. That’s how I ended up at Salacia!”
Contributing to a better world
Eliana has always wanted to contribute to a better world, something that proved difficult in Argentina. In my native country, there are so many problems in domestic politics that the government—and therefore the business community—isn’t focusing on issues like sustainability. You can’t do anything about it on your own, so it always remained a desire to make a difference. Now at Salacia, I can fulfill that desire! For the first time, I’m working at a company that actively contributes to a better world tomorrow. For me, that gives me extra motivation to do my job. What’s also very nice is that Salacia has an international character. I feel at home here. My colleagues are very diverse, fun, and everyone works with the same drive. Every day I learn new things, not only in front-end development, but also in language skills. What I want? To grow, together with Salacia!
