We are thrilled to announce that our platform has officially achieved the ISAE 3402 Type 1 report! This guarantees that our software delivers accurate, reliable, and precise data. This milestone underscores our commitment to quality, reliability, and transparency in ESG reporting 🎉
What Are ISAE Reports?
ISAE stands for International Standard for Assurance Engagements. It is an audit standard for reporting on the control of outsourced processes, such as data processing, change procedures, and data security. Historically, ISAE statements have been used in areas like payroll administration outsourcing. Salacia anticipates that ISAE 3402 will become the standard for CSRD software.
Over the past months, we have thoroughly examined our processes and identified potential risks at each step within our platform. We then implemented measures to mitigate these risks.
Kees Kerstens, (Co-Founder of Salacia Solutions): “We are extremely proud of this report. It demonstrates that we have the right processes in place to produce reliable ESG data that fully complies with Europe’s CSRD sustainability report requirements. Reliable data is not just for reporting purposes—it makes it much easier to improve sustainability in business operations. The ultimate goal of the CSRD is to create a more sustainable world, not just to generate reports.”
What Benefits Do Salacia Solutions’ Users Gain?
For companies, this report means the quality of the delivered sustainability data is guaranteed. It simplifies and reduces the labour intensity of the audit process. It also clearly documents which data is used, how it is processed, and how reliable and accurate information is delivered, including data security and change control.
Kees Kerstens: “We can now demonstrate that we have the correct measures in place to ensure everything is accurate. This means auditors only need to verify the source data before it is imported into our software. The auditor can trust the results from our software, saving both the client and the auditor a significant amount of time and money.”
Without an ISAE report, companies must have each step from data collection to reporting verified by their auditors. Every auditor from each company would have to scrutinise Salacia Solutions’ software to ensure the sustainability report’s data is accurate. This is now a thing of the past.
How Did Salacia Solutions Achieve the ISAE Report?
To obtain the ISAE report, Salacia Solutions meticulously documented all steps and components of its process. This includes data ingestion, accurate calculations, error detection and resolution, and correct presentation of results according to the latest regulations. User management and controlled implementation of software changes are also part of this.
Following this, we analysed all process steps and identified all risks, leading to a list of measures to prevent or at least detect these risks. For example, with each software release, we ensure that all tables are correctly calculated and presented according to the established methods from the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
ESRS regulations can change frequently. With this approach, Salacia Solutions maintains control over software quality during internal development and external changes. Baker Tilly, an accounting firm, then reviewed our control framework for completeness, accuracy, and correctness according to ISAE standards and approved it.
Martin van Ernst (Partner IT Advisory at Baker Tilly): “This is the first time Salacia has received an ISAE 3402 Type 1 statement for its ESG services. We congratulate Salacia on achieving this milestone.”
The next step? By continuously applying these measures and having them audited periodically, we are working towards achieving the ISAE 3402 Type 2 report. We expect to obtain this by early 2025.
We continue to build towards a more sustainable future, with accurate ESG reporting as the foundation. Interested in our platform? Book a demo with Stefan or Alžbĕta.
